Road to South Africa

Ten teams will qualify to the final round, with the top two sides of each group making the cut.

The 10 qualifiers will be split into two groups of five and will play each other home and away with the top two from each group qualifying for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

The third-placed teams in each group will then play each other in a home-and-away play-off to determine who get another chance to make the finals.

The winners of this play-off will meet the winners of the Oceania World Cup qualifiers for a place in South Africa.
