Employees of Elephant & Coral and Singapore Press Holdings are not eligible.
2. The theme of the competition is The Great Escape. Contestants can interpret the theme any way they wish, and need not use it as the title of the entry.
3. Each entry must be 500 words or less.
4. Each participant can submit up to three entries. Each must be printed on an A4 page, and postmarked no later than April 7, 2008, to:

5. E-mail submissions of Microsoft Word documents are also accepted at contest@elephantncoral.com.sg and ysteph@sph.com.sg with 'LifeStyle-Elephant & Coral Creative Writing Contest' as the subject.
6. Only the participant's NRIC or passport number should appear on each entry.
7. A separate cover letter, including the participant's full name, mailing address, contact number, e-mail address, NRIC/passport number and the titles of all entries submitted, should be sent together with entries.
8. Closing date for entries is April 7, 2008. Results will be announced on June 8, 2008, in LifeStyle.
9. LifeStyle and Elephant & Coral reserve the right to publish the winning entries, without further entitlement to royalties, in the paper or in publicity materials.
All rights revert back to the writer after three months of the announcement of the contest results.
10. One first prize ($500 Elephant & Coral gift voucher), one second prize ($300 gift voucher) and one third prize ($200 gift voucher) will be awarded.
The judges' decisions are final. If no suitable winners are identified, the judges reserve the right to not award any prize.
