It's money well spent for the label licensing manager. 'It is the local festival that has a comfortable mix of renowned acts and lesser-known ones,' says the 40-year-old.
He has been an avid follower since the very first festival was held at the Esplanade.
He says he is forking out a lot more this year due to the quality of the acts - he spent an average of $300 per festival in the past few years.
Tan, who plays guitar with indie band Localbarboy has been to the St Jerome's Laneway Festival in Melbourne and the granddaddy of all music festivals, Glastonbury Festival in Britain.
'By international standards, I'd say Mosaic still has room for improvement,' he notes.
'Some acts like (Norwegian folk-pop singer) Sondre Lerche, although popular, might work better in a smaller venue spread over a few sessions. I also wish there was a venue within the Esplanade of a size between the Theatre (that seats 2,000) and the Theatre Studio (seats 200 plus)... thus accommodating enough people, yet still keeping the atmosphere intimate.'
He adds: 'But by local standards, the festival is excellent. Great acts, nice variety, awesome sound and comfortable venue.'
