Up 11.4 per cent, or 0.3 percentage points higher than in 2006. This marks China's fifth straight year of double-digit growth.
CONSUMER PRICE INDEX
Up 4.8 per cent, or 3.3 percentage points, from 2006. Higher food and housing prices were the main factors behind the inflationary pressures.
Prices for food went up by 12.3 per cent in general. The price of grain went up by 6.3 per cent; meat, poultry and related products 31.7 per cent; and eggs 21.8 per cent.
Housing cost rose by 4.5 per cent overall. The sale prices for housing in 70 large and medium-sized cities increased by 7.6 per cent, up by 2.1 percentage points from 2006.
