For when the two sides last met in April, it was the Protectors who came away with a 3-1 win at the Bishan Stadium.
Four months on, Home are sitting pretty on top of the league table with 48 points, four clear of third-placed Tampines.
Said the Stags' assistant coach and team manager Syed Faruk: 'A win will be perfect, and it will rattle them a bit.'
According to him, his side were unlucky to lose to Home in their previous encounter.
He added: 'We've rectified the individual mistakes that cost us the game. Tonight's match is a different one, on a different pitch.'
The artificial turf at Jalan Besar has been a happy hunting ground for Tampines, who beat Singapore Armed Forces FC 2-1 on the same pitch in April.
However, the Protectors are even more impressive on the same pitch, having won four out of their five matches played there this season.
Both teams have lost key players, owing to indiscipline.
Tampines midfielder Mustafic Fahrudin will sit out after receiving his seventh yellow card of the season against Gombak United on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Home will miss the services of striker Qiu Li, who was sent off against Balestier Khalsa on Tuesday.
Syed said that Thai international Sutee Suksomkit will slot into Fahrudin's position in the middle of the park.
Brazilian forward Peres de Oliveira is fit for action, and is expected to take up position behind strikers Noh Alam Shah and Mirko Grabovac.
