Singapore Cricket Club's football team nursing ambitions to turn pro

FOR 158 years, the Singapore Cricket Club (SCC) have maintained a reputation as one of the country's premier sports clubs, with a proud tradition in rugby.

Now, they are considering making a big move into professional football by joining the S-League.

The SCC, who won the amateur National Football League Division One and the FA Cup last year, believe that they have the ability to mix with the best.

The club have declined comment but one of their players, who did not want to be named, said: 'After winning the FA Cup and the Division One title, we have a strong desire to go further by playing in the S-League. The S-League is a dream for us and the lads would really like to play there.
