Ms Carol Balhetchet, director of youth services for the Singapore Children's Society, told The Straits Times she has seen an increase in the number of cases of teachers having sex with their students. She said one reason for this could be that many teachers are now younger, so the age gap is less pronounced.

She was a student aged 14. He was 38, married, and her teacher. But that did not stop him from seducing the girl after wooing her with gifts on a school trip to South Korea.
First, he told her she was pretty, and lied that his relationship with his wife was on the rocks. Then, after they returned to Singapore, he had sex with her regularly in the school's co-curricular activities room and in his car.
All this time, his wife believed he was giving 'private tuition'. In fact, he was seeing both the student and a 16-year-old who had left the school and was over the age of consent. On Friday, the teacher, now 41, pleaded guilty to having sex with a minor.

The oldest was 13 and the youngest, eight.
He would order them to strip, blindfold them, and even record his deeds on video when he got them to stay back after lessons.
The pair had gone on a movie date and entered into a secret romantic relationship after they exchanged contact details.
The court heard that he threatened to kill himself after his victim dumped him because of his relationship with the other girl. His wife also found out about his affairs after stumbling across intimate text messages he had sent to both teenagers. When she confronted them, they assured her that nothing was going on.
