MRT breakdown: Call for SMRT chief Saw Phaik Hwa to resign
Despite the wet weather, about 80 people gathered at Hong Lim Park where calls were made for SMRT chief executive Saw Phaik Hwa to resign.
At the Speakers' Corner event on Saturday, organised by socio-political blog The Online Citizen (TOC), a demand to reverse the recent 1per cent rise in public transport fares was also made.
To applause from the crowd, TOC interim editor-in-chief Ravi Philemon said all future fare increases should be tied to improvements in service standards.
