London cab licences to be extended for 1 more year
The London cab service here will be extended for one more year following feedback from wheelchair users and their associations, Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Chan Chun Sing announced on Thursday.
Mr Chan said the Land Transport Authority, other Government ministries and the London cab operator SMRT will review other solutions in the meantime.
The licence for these cabs, which are the only cabs in Singapore able to fit a large wheelchair, were slated to expire in March.
Mr Chan also announced at the Centre For Enabled Living's LivEnabled Conference on Thursday that three more senior service centres will be set up at studio apartments after a pilot project at Golden Jasmine studio apartments in Bishan, that opened this January, was deemed a success.
