3 teens nabbed for loanshark harassment by fire
Police arrested three teenagers, aged between 16 and 19, in connection with a series of loanshark harassment by fire cases, which were reported in various parts of Singapore.
They were nabbed after officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Police Intelligence Department mounted an anti-loanshark operation between 11am and 7pm on Friday.
The three suspects were rounded-up in the Ang Mo Kio area. They are believed to be involved in the recent spate of loanshark harassment by fire cases in Jurong, Bukit Panjang, Tampines, Commonwealth and Sembawang.
The police said in a statement on Friday evening that the suspects may be responsible for at least nine counts of loanshark harassment cases between Oct 16 and Oct 28 this year. In these cases, the culprits had set fire to the front doors of the victims' homes.
