SMRT opens training institute

Existing rail workers can upgrade their skills through Workforce Skills Qualification courses organised by SMRT Institute.

RAIL operator SMRT has launched a new training subsidiary called SMRT Institute.

SMRT Institute has so far tied up with three different partners to offer courses to improve the competency of transport workers.

Those looking to find a job in the rail sector can opt for a National Institute of Technical Education Certificate (Nitec) in Rapid Transit Technology offered by the Institute and ITE.

The two-year course will teach students how the rail network works, how to maintain it and keep it safe, among other things.

Existing rail workers can upgrade their skills through Workforce Skills Qualification courses organised by SMRT Institute and the Workforce Development Authority.

SMRT Institute is also working with the LTA Academy to offer courses in other transport areas like buses, taxis and environmentally sustainable transport.
