PRIME Minister Lee Hsien Loong was treated to 'Naalthorum Navarasam' - a day full of joy and bliss - on Sunday at the Narpani-Vasantham Family Day.
Jointly organised by The People's Association Indian Activity Executive Committees Coordinating Council (PA Narpani Pearavai) and MediaCorp Vasantham, the event also marked the one year anniversary of Vasantham's launch as a full channel.
PM Lee addressed the 8000-crowd at the Jurong Bird Park on Sunday by greeting them with 'vanakkam', and saying that he was 'delighted' that the community had come together to support this event.
He added that it was an event that would build strong ties, within the family, within the Indian community in Singapore, and between the different races and religions, therefore 'strengthening our social fabric'.
He commended Narpani Pearavai, which means 'Good Activity Council', saying that it had indeed lived up to its name with the organisation of this event.
The programme for the Family Day included an amazing race between families, games, health booths aimed at women and seniors, and a cultural concert with performances by popular localIndian artistes. The event was also attended by Dr Balaji Sadasivan, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Adivser to PA Narpani Pearavai.
