1st Seoul food aid since Kim's death reaches N. Korea
SEOUL (AFP) - A private South Korean group delivered 180,000kg of flour to North Korea on Friday, the first food aid from the South since the death of the North's leader Kim Jong Il in December.
Representatives from the Korea Peace Foundation (KPF) crossed the heavily fortified border, accompanied by eight truckloads of flour.
The food is to be delivered to an elementary school, a daycare centre and a kindergarten in the western province of North Hwanghae.
Two of the eight KPF representatives will stay until Saturday to ensure the aid package reaches the intended recipients, foundation officials said.
