CARACAS - OUSTED President Manuel Zelaya has left Washington bound for Honduras, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro told local media here Sunday.

'At this moment, he is on the way, he is travelling to Honduras,' Mr Maduro told international television station Telesur, which is based in Caracas.

 
25 hurt in US bridge collapse

CHICAGO - A PEDESTRIAN bridge collapsed in the US state of Indiana, injuring 25 people who had gathered with thousands of others to watch a fireworks display marking US Independence Day, police said on Sunday.

The collapse of the cable suspension foot bridge occured at 10.08pm on Saturday night (0208 GMT Sunday) in the town of Merrillville, sending emergency rescue teams already present at the scene diving into the water at Hidden Lake Park to rescue some 50 people who fell in.

Deutsche spies on staff

BERLIN - GERMANY'S biggest bank, Deutsche Bank, hired detectives to spy on its employees including a member of its supervisory board, managers and a shareholder, German magazine Der Spiegel reported.

The bank launched an internal inquiry at the end of May into potential breaches of data privacy law in connection with the affair, Mr Spiegel said in its latest edition to be published on Monday.

Iran frees reporter

TEHRAN - IRAN on Sunday freed a British-Greek journalist and police said they had let go most other people detained in election protests but fresh challenges were made to the outcome of the presidential vote.

Washington Times reporter Iason Athanasiadis-Fowden 'who was arrested for activities contradictory to journalism and in connection with the recent street riots was freed today,' foreign ministry spokesman Hassan Ghashghavi told ISNA news agency.
