LONDON - BRITISH health officials have confirmed five new cases of swine flu, bringing the national total to 39.

 
First slab laid at 9/11 memorial

NEW YORK - A PIECE of the plaza that will surround two reflecting pools at the Sept 11 memorial is taking shape.

Construction workers began laying the first concrete slab of the memorial plaza at ground zero on Friday.

About 130 cubic meters of concrete are forming the beginning of the street-level plaza.

Mexico confirms 45th death

MEXICO CITY - MEXICO has confirmed one more death from swine flu, bringing the national death toll to 45.

Emma is top US baby name

WASHINGTON - MOVE OVER, baby Emily. Emma is the new top name among baby girls in the US, ending Emily's 12-year reign.
