Vow to cut govt waste

WASHINGTON - PRESIDENT Barack Obama on Thursday vowed to cut 'stunning' waste in the US government budget, as he laid out details of his sweeping budget for the fiscal year 2010.

'There is a lot of money being spent inefficiently, ineffectively, and - in some cases - in ways that are actually pretty stunning,' Mr Obama said, outlining details of his US$3.4 trillion (S$4.98 trillion) spending plan at the White House.
