MEXICO CITY - THE swine flu epidemic in Mexico is 'not so aggressive' as initially feared, the government said on Friday as it gave a new confirmed toll of 15 dead and 328 people infected based on lab tests.

'Fortunately the virus is not so aggressive - it's not a case of avian flu, which had a mortality rate of nearly 70 per cent,' Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova told a news conference.

 
Denmark confirms 1st case

COPENHAGEN - A PERSON in Denmark has been confirmed as suffering from swine flu, the country's National Board of Health said on Friday, the first confirmed case in the Nordic region.

Worldwide May Day rallies

BERLIN - GERMAN and Turkish police clashed with demonstrators on Friday as huge crowds angered by the worst global recession in decades took to the streets worldwide for traditional labour day rallies.

In Germany, on course for its biggest slump since World War II, Berlin police made 49 arrests as young demonstrators hurled bottles and rocks and set fire to cars and rubbish bins in the early hours.

Egypt's pigs cull ridiculed

CAIRO - EGYPT'S government was hoping to look strong and proactive in the swine flu scare with its decision to slaughter all the country's pigs, after taking heavy criticism at home for poor planning and corruption in past crises.
