BIRMINGHAM (Alabama) - A WOMAN who was shot in the head not only survived but made herself tea and offered an astonished deputy something to drink, authorities said on Friday.

Tammy Sexton, 47, remained hospitalised three days after being wounded by her husband, who killed himself after he shot his wife.

 
Palin stands against abortion

EVANSVILLE (Indiana) - ALASKA Governor Sarah Palin, speaking at an anti-abortion group's dinner, criticised President Barack Obama for supporting abortion rights and challenged the idea that unplanned pregnancies are a nuisance that can be solved by abortion.

Mrs Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, spoke to an overflow crowd organisers said numbered 3,000 at the Vanderburgh County Right to Life banquet on Thursday night.

Cop queried over G20 death

LONDON - A LONDON policeman has been questioned on suspicion of manslaughter over a man's death at G20 summit protests this month, after it was found he died of a haemorrhage and not a heart attack, officials said Friday.

Ian Tomlinson, 47, was filmed being hit by a police officer with a baton on April 1 minutes before collapsing in London's financial district, the focus of demonstrations against the meeting of world leaders on the economic crisis.

US Cuban policy has failed

SANTO DOMINGO - US SECRETARY of State Hillary Clinton said on Friday US policy toward Cuba has failed as she welcomed an 'overture' from Cuba for wide-ranging talks.

'We are continuing to look for more productive ways going forward because President (Barack) Obama and I and the administration view the present policy to Cuba as having failed,' Mrs Clinton told a town hall meeting in the Dominican Republic.
