JAYAPURA (Indonesia) - AN INDONESIAN court on Thursday overturned the convictions of five Australians sentenced to prison for illegally entering West Papua in a light plane last year.

 
Cruise ship in 'pirate' scare

LONDON - A BRITISH cruise ship with more than 1,000 tourists aboard has been ushered to safety after fears it was being followed by pirates off the coast of Somalia said a travel company on Thursday.

The Balmoral made emergency calls on Wednesday when two small, rapidly moving craft were picked up on its radar said a spokesman for Fred Olsen Cruise Lines.

New Ukraine gas crisis?

MOSCOW - RUSSIAN Prime Minister Vladimir Putin warned on Thursday that Moscow would again cut off gas supplies to Ukraine and possibly Europe if Kiev does not pay off its latest debts by the weekend.

His comments came a day after armed Ukrainian security service agents burst into the headquarters of the Ukrainian state gas firm Naftogaz to conduct a search, in a dramatic display of the country's internal tensions.
