BUENOS AIRES - FIVE people died, 40 were injured and 300 evacuated when a storm packing high winds and hail tore through a region of central Argentina overnight, officials said on Tuesday.

 
Anger follows snowstorm

LONDON - BRITAIN'S capital cleared the soggy remnants of a paralysing snowstorm on Tuesday as businesses counted the multibillion pound cost.

An estimated 6 million people skipped work on Monday when the largest snowstorm to hit London in 18 years stopped bus and subway service, grounded airliners and hobbled businesses.

Eurostar passengers delayed

PARIS - Some 2,000 Eurostar rail passengers were blocked for hours in the Channel Tunnel or stranded in northern France overnight because of heavy snowfall, the operator said Tuesday.

Kouchner to meet Clinton

PARIS - FRENCH Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner will travel to Washington later this week for his first meeting with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the foreign ministry said on Tuesday.
