BAGHDAD - IRAQI lawmakers called an emergency closed-door session of parliament on Monday to try to remove the speaker after a row over an Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at President George W. Bush.

 
Iraq delay British troop vote

BAGHDAD - THE Iraqi parliament on Monday delayed a crucial vote to determine the future of British and other non-US foreign troops because of a row over the assembly speaker, a senior lawmaker said.

Mafia property seized

ROME - ITALIAN authorities seized property worth some four billion euros (S$8.12 billion) from mafia suspects this year, Interior Minister Roberto Maroni said on Monday.

Only defensive weapons

MOSCOW - RUSSIAN'S state arms export agency said on Monday it is supplying Iran with defensive weapons, including surface-to-air missiles, but did not say whether they include sophisticated long-range S-300 missiles.
