NEW YORK - AN EL Nino weather anomaly has developed and it may not be as strong as the killer which struck more than a decade ago, the US Climate Prediction Center said on Thursday.

 
Cyber attack from N.Korea?

SEOUL (South Korea) - NORTH Korea, which has been firing missiles and spewing threats against the United States, has been identified by South Korea's main spy agency as a suspect in the cyber attacks targeting government and other Web sites in the US and South Korea.

North Korea is not known for its computing prowess, but experts said such attacks would be easy - and cheap - to mount by hiring outside help.

Amazon cuts Kindle to $438

SAN FRANCISCO - ONLINE retailer Amazon.com has cut the price of its standard Kindle electronic reader by 17 per cent to US$299(S$438), the company said on Wednesday, the latest salvo in the war for digital readers.

The price cut comes amid a budding digital book battle where rivals like Amazon, Sony Corp and a host of smaller companies are anxious to get in on the ground floor of what some say is the future of reading.

Massive supernova found

PARIS - ASTRONOMERS on Wednesday said they had found the farthest supernova ever detected, a giant star that ripped apart around 11 billion years ago.

A new technique enabled the cosmologists to make the find, which should help advance knowledge into these rare phenomena and their role in generating other stars, they said in a report published by the British journal Nature.
