HANOI - RESEARCHERS have begun testing mechanical 'SediTurtles' they say will protect a legendary Vietnamese turtle while cleaning the historical lake in which the creature lives.

Experts showed off the German-developed sediment-eating machines this week as part of preparations before an expected cleanup of Hoan Kiem Lake, the heart and soul of Vietnam's capital.

US switches to all-digital TV

WASHINGTON - ALL US television stations have switched from analog to digital broadcasts and the number of households without a signal has been dramatically reduced, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) said on Saturday.

Race for H1N1 vaccine

NEW YORK - THE race is on among drugmakers to produce a vaccine for the Influenza A (H1N1) virus. Baxter International has said it is in full-scale production of a vaccine that could be ready for commercial use next month.

The announcement came a day after Novartis said it expected a vaccine for the virus, the source of the first flu pandemic in 40 years, to be available by September.
