SOUTH PADRE ISLAND (Texas) - TURTLE rescuers have demonstrated the first fin suit designed to allow a green sea turtle that lost three of its flippers to finally swim in a straight line.

Workers at Sea Turtle Inc strapped Allison, a five-year-old rescued turtle, on Wednesday into a neoprene 'ninja' suit that holds a carbon-fiber fin in place on her back.

 
Spies probe US power grid

WASHINGTON - CHINESE and Russian hackers are attempting to seed viruses in the US power grid that could one day plunge major cities into chaos, a report warned on Wednesday.

The report in the Wall Street Journal quotes intelligence officials saying that cyber-spies last year repeatedly gained access to the system powering everything from financial institutions to sewage systems.

Rabbits menace Helsinki city

HELSINKI - WHILE other cities grapple with traffic or pollution problems, the Finnish capital of Helsinki is taking aim at the humble rabbit.

'Rabbits have caused severe damage...we are talking about costs of hundreds of thousands of euros,' said Antti J Rautiainen, a construction project manager with the city authorities.

US approves avian flu test

WASHINGTON - THE US Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday approved a test that is able to diagnose - in less than 40 minutes - the human strain of avian flu.

The test detects the A/H5N1 virus in the throat, nostrils and saliva of patients that show symptoms of the disease.
