Detox products won't help

LONDON - AS PEOPLE trudged back to work on Monday bloated from the excesses of Christmas and New Year partying, British scientists warned that buying 'detox' products may do nothing to help them recover.

World's slimmest TV

SEOUL - SOUTH Korea's Samsung Electronics on Monday unveiled what it says is the world's slimmest LCD (liquid crystal display) TV.

The new product, measuring only 6.5mm thick, is thinner than any other existing TV set, and even slimmer than most mobile handsets, Samsung said in a statement.

Basalt wall found near Taiwan

TAIPEI - A BIODIVERSITY researcher has found a huge basalt rock formation in the Taiwan Strait, resembling a city wall and rivaling similar monoliths on land.

The 200m-long, 10m-high undersea wall, which looks like thousands of pillars packed together, is near the Pescadores archipelago, researcher Jeng Ming-hsiou said on Monday.
