BANGKOK - THE Thai government has blocked more than 2,300 websites over the past year, most of them for allegedly offending the country's monarchy, a senior official said on Tuesday.

The sites, more than 90 per cent of which were registered abroad, were also blocked for pornographic content and threatening national security, said Sue Lo-uthai, an official at the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.

 
Air NZ hails biofuel 'milestone'

WELLINGTON - AIR New Zealand on Tuesday successfully flew a test flight powered by second-generation biofuel, and hailed it as a 'significant milestone' in the development of sustainable fuels for aircraft.

The airline used a 50-50 blend of standard jet fuel and synthetic fuel made from the oil of jatropha plant seeds to power one of the engines on a Boeing 747 during a two-hour test flight.

Ford's new self-parking tech

That's what Ford Motor said on Tuesday about its new self-parking technology, which it announced will debut as an option on the 2010 Lincoln MKS sedan and the new seven-passenger Lincoln MKT luxury crossover vehicle.

Huge dino find in China

BEIJING - PALEONTOLOGISTS in east China have dug up what they believe is one of the world's largest group of fossilised dinosaur bones, including the remains of an enormous 'platypus,' state press said on Tuesday.

Paleontologists have discovered 15 areas near Zhucheng city in Shandong province that contain thousands of dinosaur bones, the Beijing News reported.
