WASHINGTON - TECHNICAL glitches have forced US space agency Nasa to delay the launch of a landmark mission to Mars, which was due to lift off in the autumn of next year, officials said on Thursday.

'We will not be ready to launch Mars Science Lab by the hoped-for date next year,' Nasa administrator Michael Griffin told a news conference.

 
Yahoo radio plugs to CBS

SAN FRANCISCO - YAHOO is plugging its Internet radio service into CBS' webcasting network in a move driven by dramatically higher fees for airing music online.

Yahoo's retreat from operating a standalone service, announced on Wednesday, makes it the second major website this year to flee the rising royalty rates by hitching its radio operations to CBS.

Breast cancer drug failure

LONDON - THE most commonly used breast cancer drug may cause tumours to spread in a small number of women with low levels of a protein which makes cells stick together, British researchers said on Thursday.

The findings could lead to new tests to determine which women are not likely to benefit from tamoxifen and who should be given other drugs, said Dr Stephen Hiscox, a cancer researcher at Cardiff University, who led the study.
