PARIS - SENTIMENTAL favourite Roger Federer twice came from behind in the French Open semifinals on Friday to beat big-serving Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina 3-6, 7-6 (2), 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.

 
Soderling reaches final

PARIS - ROBIN Soderling reached the French Open final on Friday with a dramatic 6-3, 7-5, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Chile's Fernando Gonzalez.

The Swedish 23rd seed, who knocked out four-time champion Rafael Nadal in the last 16, will now face sentimental favourite Roger Federer, bidding to win a record-setting 14th Grand Slam title, or improving Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro on Sunday for the trophy.

Halfpenny starts for Lions

BLOEMFONTEIN (South Africa) - LEIGH Halfpenny will start for the British and Irish Lions for the first time against the Cheetahs on Saturday after only three days of training, while Gordon D'Arcy will be on the bench 48 hours after flying in from the United States.

The starting lineup for the third tour game was announced Friday and was entirely changed from the team that outplayed the Golden Lions 74-10 at Ellis Park in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
