Barca are Euro champs

ROME - BARCELONA beat Manchester United 2-0 to win the Champions League title on Wednesday with goals by Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi.

Eto'o put the Spanish champions ahead in the 10th-minute at the Stadio Olimpico and Messi's 70th-minute header - his ninth Champions League goal of the season - sealed the victory as Barcelona won Europe's most prestigious club championship for the third time.

Hiddink thinks about Chelsea

COBHAM (England) - GUUS Hiddink is thinking about what Chelsea needs to do for success next season even though he won't be there.

The Dutch coach steps down after four months in charge of the Blues following Saturday's FA Cup final against Wembley, but says his successor - who is widely expected to be AC Milan's Carlo Ancelotti - has some minor tweaks to make before the club can return to the sustained success it enjoyed a couple of years ago.

Portsmouth close to takeover

PORTSMOUTH - PORTSMOUTH could be about to change ownership after the Premier League club was linked with the businessman who helped negotiate last year's takeover of Manchester City.

United Arab Emirates businessman Sulaiman Al Fahim, who was involved with Abu Dhabi United Group's purchase of City, is reportedly in talks with Portsmouth owner Alexandre Gaydamak.
