MONACO - BRAWN GP's Jenson Button won the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, capturing his fifth victory in six races to extend his Formula One championship lead.

Button finished 7.6 seconds ahead of teammate Rubens Barrichello at the famed street circuit race for his fourth start-to-finish victory of the season.

Button leads with 51 points. Barrichello has 35 and Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, who crashed out after 16 laps, is third with 23 points.

 
Daly wears pink

VIRGINIA WATER (England) - JOHN Daly wore bright pink trousers during Sunday's final round of the BMW PGA Championship in a gesture of support for Phil Mickelson's wife after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Bayern want to sign Gomez

MUNICH - BAYERN Munich will hold talks next week with Stuttgart over signing striker Mario Gomez, who scored 24 goals in the concluded Bundesliga season.

Ivanovic advances to 2nd round

PARIS - DEFENDING champion Ana Ivanovic struggled on the important points in her opening match at the French Open before beating Sara Errani of Italy 7-6 (3), 6-3 on Sunday to reach the second round.
