RIO DE JANEIRO - OFF-form Ronaldinho was left out of Brazil's squad on Thursday for next month's World Cup qualifiers and the Confederations Cup.

Striker Ronaldo, who has not played for his country since the last World Cup, was also overlooked despite a promising start to his latest comeback with Corinthians.

 
Inter's Mourinho '99.9%' sure

ROME - INTER Milan coach Jose Mourinho on Thursday dampened rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid by saying that he was '99.9 percent' sure of remaining at the newly-crowned Italian champions.

Florentino Perez, favourite to win the race to become Real's next president, is reportedly keen to lure Mourinho to the Bernabeu stadium next season.

Uefa's Ukraine concerns remain

ISTANBUL - SHAKHTAR Donetsk's victory in the Uefa Cup final will have no bearing on whether Ukraine retains full co-hosting rights for the 2012 European Championship, Uefa president Michel Platini said on Thursday.

'It is not a question about whether they have good teams,' Mr Platini said in an interview a day after Shakhtar beat Werder Bremen 2-1 in extra time to become the first Ukrainian team to win the Uefa Cup.

Barca's Alves out with injury

BARCELONA - DEFENDER Daniel Alves will miss the Primera Liga champions' remaining two league matches against Osasuna and Deportivo Coruna after he injured his right foot, the club said on Thursday.

The Brazilian international, who is suspended for Wednesday's Champions League final against Manchester United, sustained the injury in training on Wednesday, the club said on their website (www.fcbarcelona.cat).
