SYRACUSE (New York) - NBA star Shaquille O'Neal is back in university, taking a crash course designed to teach athletes about the broadcasting industry.

The 2.16-meter center for the Phoenix Suns started on Monday at Syracuse University.

 
Palmer receives Byron Nelson Prize

IRVING (Texas) - ARNORD Palmer said it was 'a great thrill' to receive the Bryon Nelson Prize on Tuesday.

The Byron Nelson Prize was established after Nelson's death in 2006.

Newcastle lose red card appeal

LONDON - NEWCASTLE United will be without French defender Sebastian Bassong when they play for their Premier League survival against Aston Villa on Sunday.

The 22-year-old was sent off by referee Howard Webb for a foul on Fulham defender Diomansy Kamara last week and the club lost their appeal on Tuesday.

Swimsuits, no Fina approval

PARIS - WORLD swimming's ruling body Fina on Tuesday refused to give approval to 10 swimsuits, including some of those made from polyurethane and which were used, controversially, to set new world records.

The use of swimsuits in recent years has caused huge controversy in the sport because some experts, including some top swimmers, believe their use gives an unfair advantage in the pool.
