DETROIT - IT WAS only a matter of time, and now Michael Jordan is in the Hall of Fame.

Jordan was elected to the class of 2009 on Monday with David Robinson, John Stockton, Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan and Rutgers women's coach C Vivian Stringer.

 
No assault charge for Robinho

LEEDS - MANCHESTER City and Brazil striker Robinho will not face charges following allegations of a serious sexual assault made in January, police announced here on Monday.

Robinho always denied any wrongdoing relating to an alleged incident at the Space nightclub in Leeds, northern England.

Rio to miss Porto clash

MANCHESTER - DEFENDER Rio Ferdinand will miss Manchester United's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Porto on Tuesday after failing to recover from a groin injury, manager Alex Ferguson said.

The problem forced the England centre back to sit out Sunday's dramatic 3-2 home win over Aston Villa in the Premier League.
