RIO DE JANEIRO - PELE apparently backtracked on comments that Brazilian football stars Robinho and Ronaldo have had drug problems, saying on Wednesday his comments were misinterpreted by the press.

On Tuesday, Robinho threatened Pele with legal action.

 
Armstrong's collarbone recovery

AUSTIN (Texas) - LANCE Armstrong was recovering from surgery on his broken collarbone on Wednesday.

Surgeon Doug Elenz inserted a steel plate and 12 screws to stabilize the collarbone, which was broken in four pieces.

Ronaldo: No return to Europe

MILAN - RONALDO is content finishing his career in Brazil, and the prolific striker does not plan a return to Europe.

'I think that phase of my career and my life has concluded,' the Brazilian said in an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday.

Chambers invited to Holland

THE HAGUE - CONTROVERSIAL British sprinter Dwain Chambers, who recently released a book on his doping past, has been invited to compete at an athletics event in Uden, Holland, organisers announced on Wednesday.

'The rules on doping are clear: anyone who has served a punishment can continue competing,' meeting organiser Patrick van de Rijdt told the press agency ANP.
