NYON (Switzerland) - MANCHESTER United will continue its defense of the Champions League title against Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan after the teams were drawn to meet in the next round on Friday.

Mourinho, who tussled regularly with United during a three-year stint with Chelsea and won the 2004 title with FC Porto, will welcome the Red Devils to San Siro on Feb 24 before taking his team to England two weeks later.

 
Lam takes Volvo Masters lead

BANGKOK - SINGAPORE'S Lam Chih Bing shot a slick 66 to grab a two-stroke lead at the end of day two at the Volvo Masters of Asia on Friday.

Lam carded five birdies on a stunning outward nine and added two more on the 14th and 18th holes of the Asian Tour's season-ending finale to go two clear at nine-under par, with four players tied for second.

Tokyo finalises Games venues

TOKYO - TOKYO'S bid committee has finalised its venue plans for the 2016 Olympics, promising a compact games of tightly grouped venues.

Among the plans that were announced by the bid committee on Thursday was a marathon course that will begin at National Stadium - the main stadium for the 1964 Olympics - and finish at the new 2016 Olympic Stadium on Tokyo's waterfront.

Navy ship sent to rescue sailor

LES SABLES D'OLONNE (France) - THE Australian Navy has sent a frigate to rescue Yann Elies after the French sailor broke his leg while competing in the Vendee Globe round-the-world yacht race.

The HMAS Arunta left Fremantle on Australia's west coast early on Friday and is expected to reach the yacht Generali on Sunday, although rough weather and bad seas could slow the expected 1,300km trip.
