Phelp's book released

NEW YORK - MICHAEL Phelps is thrilled that all the attention he received during the Beijing Olympics raised the profile of swimming. Some people, though, were sick of all the coverage.

As he was racking up a record eight gold medals, Phelps reminisced on Tuesday, he kept getting joking text messages from friends from high school.

NFL to axe 150 jobs

NEW YORK - THE National Football League, citing the economic recession, said on Tuesday it will cut some 150 jobs over the next 60 days.

'These are difficult and painful steps,' Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a memo to NFL employees.
