SINGAPORE'S Lam Chih Bing is the surprise leader after a barnstorming start to the first round of the Barclays Singapore Open on Thursday.

The 31-year-old is at four-under-par after the 13th hole, before torrential rain and lightning cut short the play at noon.

 
Gamba aims for Man Utd upset

TOKYO - NEWLY crowned Asian champions Gamba Osaka have vowed to stick to their brand of attacking football at the Club World Cup in Japan next month - even if they come up against mighty Manchester United.

'I have achieved my biggest goal', Gamba coach Akira Nishino told Japanese media after his side beat Adelaide United 2-0 away to seal the AFC Champions League final 5-0 on aggregate on Wednesday.

Chelsea crashes out

LONDON - AN EMBARRASSING League Cup exit to Championship side Burnley was made even worse for Chelsea following an admission from striker Didier Drogba that he had thrown a coin at opposition supporters.

Burnley fans threw coins at Drogba after he scored for Chelsea in the first half of Wednesday's fourth round tie at Stamford Bridge and the Ivory Coast international responded by picking one up and hurling it towards the away supporters.
