SOME of the world's top golfers will be praying for rain at the US$5 million Barclays Singapore Open, which tees off on Thursday at the Sentosa Golf Club.

The intimidating Serapong course, with its thicker roughs and faster greens this year, is expected to provide a stiff test for the likes of Phil Mickelson, Padraig Harrington, Ernie Els, KJ Choi and Adam Scott.

 
Poulter pulls out of S'pore

ENGLISH Ryder Cup star Ian Poulter pulled out of the Barclays Singapore Open on Wednesday because his driver was stolen in Shanghai and a replacement will not arrive in time.

S'pore F1, circuit wins award

THE SingTel Singapore Grand Prix celebrated yet another success on Tuesday, with the event and the Marina Bay circuit winning the title of world-wide Motor Sport Facility of the Year.

Adam Scott back in action

ADAM Scott said on Wednesday he has been battling bouts of recurring tonsillitis, which along with a broken hand earlier in the year scuppered his hopes of finishing the season in the world's top 10.

The Australian, ranked third in the world in July, has slipped to 17 and said it had been a frustrating time.
