BUILDING firms have shrugged off the effects of the downturn to dominate the Enterprise 50 (E50) Awards.

The companies displayed plenty of resilience and initiative in tackling some huge infrastructure projects that came on stream this year.

 
Man in loanshark case gets threats

A THREAT that his family would be burned alive has granted a tow-truck driver a stay in sentencing.

Edward Siah Say Keon asked a district court to delay sentencing him till police could investigate the threats made to his wife.

NUH shows the way

HANDYMAN Teng Tat Chye, 67, has been working at the National University Hospital (NUH) since 2003.

And although employed by ISS Singapore, a services company contracted by the NUH to handle operations like housekeeping and catering, he is treated almost like a hospital staff member.
