SOLDIERS injured on the battlefield will have a better chance of surviving, with a major revamp of the Singapore Amed Forces medical corps underway.

The army medic in the frontline will be better equipped and trained to treat more complex wounds like a punctured lung, which he can close of with a new chest seal.

IT WAS only his second taekwondo competition and 17-year-old Vincent Tan was fighting an opponent two belt levels above him.

Barely a minute into the sparring match last Sunday, his slighter-built opponent, who had a brown belt, gave Tan a kick in the neck which ruptured a main blood vessel to his brain.

Loan sharks lock up 80-year-old
