FAST food giant McDonald's made a meal of the Singapore HR Awards on Friday night by taking home the top prize - the inaugural Corporate HR Champion prize at Friday's event.

The new category recognises organisations that have consistently demonstrated creative and proactive HR and people management practices.

 
Death of an NSman

A FULL-TIME National Serviceman died on Friday after he was pinned under a vehicle, which rolled backwards and hit him while he was inspecting it, said the Ministry of Defence.

The incident happened when Second Lieutenant (2LT) Chan Wei Kit Nicholas, a Motor Transport Officer, was taking delivery of a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Land Rover in Seletar Camp at about 11.30am.

Keeping watch on casino cheats

H1N1 cases near 1,000

THE Health Ministry said the A (H1N1) flu is here to stay, just like other influenze strains, as the number of cases in Singapore crept close to 1,000 on Friday.

Another 91 new cases were confirmed on Friday, bringing the total tally to 969.
