FOR the sixth year running, The Straits Times (ST) has bagged awards at a premier Asian publishing competition.

At a ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Hong Kong on Thursday night its journalists received honourable mentions - second-place awards - in the Excellence in Reporting Breaking News category and in the Excellence in Business Reporting category of the Society Of Publishers in Asia (Sopa) Awards for Editorial Excellence.

 
Malaria outbreak worsens

THE outbreak of malaria in Singapore took a turn for the worse on Thursday, with two more people - including another Singaporean - coming down with the potentially deadly disease.

3 more H1N1 cases

SINGAPORE has three more confirmed cases of Influenza A (H1N1-2009), bringing the total number of reported cases to 21.

But 13 of the patients have been discharged. The remaining eight patients are still in hospital and their conditions remain stable, said the Ministry of Health in the latest update on Thursday night.
