DESPITE clear signs that the taxi industry is overcrowded - operators posting thinner profits, outright losses and hundreds of taxis laid up idle - there is a new applicant for a taxi operating licence.

 
Icon Village: New food haven

THE Icon Village, a shopping mall occupying the ground level of the Icon Condominium, is undergoing renovations and a rebranding exercise, less than two years after opening its doors.

More clinics set for pandemic

SINCE the Health Minister's lament last week that only 800 of the 1,400 private clinics in Singapore are ready to tackle the flu, over 60 have signed up.

Refine policies, strategies

SINGAPORE will not change its policies fundamentally to cope with the global economic crisis, as these have proven to be the right ones that position the Republic for the future.

But it will refine some policies and come up with new strategies to help Singapore take advantage of opportunities in a new world order, said President S R Nathan in his address when he opened the second session of the 11th Parliament on Monday night.
