IN AN ongoing effort to contain the seedy activities in Geylang, street lamps have been installed to light up a back alley between Lorongs 14 and 16.

It was one of the areas that many residents had complained about, said Dr Lee Boon Yang, Member of Parliament for Jalan Besar GRC, at the light-up ceremony on Wednesday night.

 
Private schools sue HK agent

TWO private schools here have sued their Hong Kong-based marketing agent for holding on to money collected from students and schools in China.

On Wednesday, Madam Lily Kong, the schools' principal and owner, told the High Court that she wanted the agent to stop issuing fake certificates and receipts in the name of her schools. She claimed he had stolen the identity of her institutions and spoilt their good name.
