ONCE found only in places like shopping malls and hotels, bubble lifts are going up in the world at Housing Board blocks.

Since January, residents of Block 46 at Owen Road, near Farrer Park, have been enjoying the view from their very own glass lift - the first of its kind in an HDB block.

MOTHER and son have been receiving financial help from grassroots volunteers as well as members of the Serangoon North Merchants' Association for about five years.

They were also familiar faces at Meet-The-People Sessions (MPS) held weekly at Block 125 Serangoon North Avenue 1 where they would ask for different kinds of financial help.

Buses, trains lower precautions

BUS captains will no longer need to have their temperature taken before starting their shift now that Singapore is lowering its alert level from orange to yellow.

SBS Transit, which runs most of the buses here, however said that it will still continue to disinfect its buses and trains as a precautionary measure.

A dark hour for the arts?

PESSIMISTS may say this is a dark hour for the arts. Purse strings are being tightened in the credit crunch and more recently, the H1N1 virus is giving people another reason to stay at home.
