2 S'poreans under surveillance

TWO Singaporeans who returned from Mexico are on voluntary phone surveillance even though the home quarantine order has yet to kick in, and there are still no probable cases of Influenza A(H1N1-2009) in Singapore.

The seven-day home quarantine order for those who return from Mexico and other affected regions kicks in on Monday, but in the interim, phone notification and surveillance will be enforced, said the Ministry of Health on Saturday.

No confidence on new team

VOTE of no confidence in new executive committee member was passed by Aware members at extraordinary general meeting, which ran over five hours on Saturday.

The vote was passed by a margin of 1,414 to 761.

Hospitals vaccinating staff

HOSPITALS have started vaccinating their front line staff against the seasonal flu.

The vaccination is unlikely to give much protection against the new influenza A H1N1 strain, but it will stop 'background noise', or undue worry caused by them catching a normal flu.
