MP finds festive spirit

YIO Chu Kang MP Seng Han Thong, who was set on fire at a community event on Jan11, is well enough to get into the spirit of Chinese New Year, even though he will not be home for reunion dinner on Sunday.

Despite severe burns to his face, chest and arms, the 59-year-old has signed New Year cards for the doctors and nurses tending to him at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), as well as for his friends.

DIY breathalysers selling well

PERSONAL do-it-yourself breathalyser kits have hit a chord among Singaporeans, who are snapping them up in large numbers.

The popularity of the gadgets has been especially high with the year-end holidays and Chinese New Year, said distributors and retailers of the products.

A familial feast

THEY will be traversing thousands of kilometres from different corners of the globe. But for the Tsao family, the effort will be worth it. For the first time in five years, they will be reunited over a family meal to usher in the Year of the Ox.

Shanghai-based business development director Tsao Hsiao Min, 59, and wife Sang Ching, 57, arrived in Singapore yesterday. Their son Heng Jui, 27, returns today from London, where he works as a financial analyst.
