A DOG owner whose animals bolted from his front yard last month and attacked a neighbour and her small terrier has been fined $600, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) said yesterday.

Mr Jagjit Singh was cited for not leashing his three dogs - a Labrador, a German shepherd cross and golden retriever - before they escaped from his Upper Bukit Timah property on Dec 30.

 
Top student to say farewell?

SINGAPORE'S top O-level student was not here to collect her results and may not even continue her studies in Singapore.

Haw Sue Hern, from CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' School, had just returned to her home in Subang Jaya, Malaysia, after a holiday in Beijing when she learnt of her results. Her family had planned their holiday before the announcement last week that the O-level results would be released yesterday.

In jail, but scores 5 distinctions

LIKE many other O-level students, Sean (not his real name) used his free time to revise and discuss his school work with friends from a study group.

However, he and his friends are not regular secondary students but inmates at the prison school at Kaki Bukit Centre.
