JAKARTA - A 6.0 magnitude quake hit western Indonesia's Bengkulu province Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of any casualties or damage, officials said.

MANILA - A SENIOR separatist leader was among seven Muslim guerrillas killed in a clash with government forces in the southern Philippines, the military said on Saturday.

23 escape M'sia rehab centre

KUALA LUMPUR - MALAYSIAN police are looking for 23 people who escaped from a drug rehabilitation centre during a riot there, an officer said on Saturday.

Detainees at the centre in northern Penang state set fire to three buildings and several vehicles on Friday, said a local police officer who declined to be identified because he was not authorized to make public statements.
