TANGERANG (Indonesia) - AN INDONESIAN mother-of-two who sent an email to friends complaining about her treatment at a local hospital was charged with defamation on Thursday and faces six years' jail.

Indonesia detains 59: police

KUPANG (Indonesia) - INDONESIA has detained 59 Afghan and Pakistani migrants on eastern Sumba island and arrested four alleged people-smugglers trying to send them to Australia, police said on Thursday.

The migrants were travelling from neighbouring Sumbawa island's coastal town of Bima to Australia on Wednesday, East Sumba police chief Petra Putra said.
